World of Coffee Dubai 2025 to Host Inaugural Specialty Coffee Auction

by Jessica

Coffee lovers and industry leaders will gather in Dubai this February for the highly anticipated World of Coffee (WOC) Dubai 2025, which will feature its first-ever DMCC Specialty Coffee Auction. This exclusive event will showcase some of the world’s rarest and most sought-after coffee beans, with buyers from around the globe vying for approximately 20 lots of specialty-grade coffee.

In a unique collaboration between WOC Dubai and DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre), the auction will allow participants to bid both in person and remotely through an advanced digital platform. Buyers, including leading global coffee producers, will have the opportunity to compete for top-tier beans scoring 92 points and above on the Specialty Coffee Association’s 100-point scale.

Specialty coffee is defined as coffee scoring 80 points or more, but the beans being auctioned at WOC Dubai will all exceed this threshold. Earlier this year, a new record was set when a lot of Elida Geisha Natural Torre coffee from the Lamastus Family Estate sold for a remarkable US $10,013 per kilogram.

Among the rarest coffees in the world are Black Ivory from Thailand, priced at approximately $1,500 per kilogram, and Kopi Luwak from Indonesia, which can reach up to $1,200 per kilogram.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, said, “The inaugural Dubai Coffee Auction by DMCC in 2025 underscores our role in shaping the future of one of the world’s most traded commodities. By showcasing some of the finest coffees, this event not only has the potential to set new record prices but also strengthens Dubai’s position as a global coffee trade hub. It’s an opportunity to bring together coffee producers, traders, and enthusiasts from around the world.”

The auction will be a key highlight of WOC Dubai 2025, the largest coffee trade show in the Middle East. Taking place from February 10-12 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the event is expected to attract over 13,500 visitors and more than 400 exhibitors from around the world. With the MENA coffee market projected to reach a value of $11.5 billion by 2025, WOC Dubai arrives at a pivotal moment in the industry’s growth.

Khalid Al Hammadi, Senior Vice President of DXB LIVE, added, “World of Coffee Dubai is an essential platform for connecting coffee professionals, enthusiasts, and businesses globally. The auction highlights Dubai’s growing importance in the coffee trade, reinforcing the city’s role as a hub for innovation, collaboration, and opportunity.”

The coffee industry has seen a surge in demand and value, with prices hitting a 47-year high. This rise is driven by increased global demand, especially in Asia, and supply concerns, such as weather-related challenges in key coffee-producing countries like Brazil and Vietnam. These trends emphasize the importance of events like the DMCC Specialty Coffee Auction, which offers a unique opportunity to connect the industry’s key players and explore emerging market trends.
