Rook Coffee, the beloved Jersey Shore coffeehouse known for its cult following, has raised and donated $14,362 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Coastal & Northern New Jersey this holiday season.
Founded in 2010 in a small Red Bank shop, Rook Coffee now operates 11 locations throughout Monmouth County. This holiday season, the company launched its first-ever Blendsgiving charitable campaign, using the sale of its annual seasonal coffee blend to give back to the community.
Although Rook Coffee has been selling its limited-edition Blendsgiving coffee since 2021, this was the first year the company used the release as a fundraising platform. The campaign ran from November 13 through December 3 (Giving Tuesday), and thanks to the support of loyal customers and exposure from Big Brothers Big Sisters, Rook surpassed its fundraising goal, raising 40 percent more than expected.
On Monday, Rook Coffee presented a check to Big Brothers Big Sisters at their Oakhurst location. “When we were planning Blendsgiving this year, the name really resonated with us,” said Marc Hindman, senior director of strategy at Rook Coffee. “We asked ourselves: How can we turn this amazing coffee into something more impactful for our local community? Big Brothers Big Sisters had been on our radar for years, and their mission, professionalism, and reach in New Jersey made them the perfect fit.”
William Salcedo, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Coastal & Northern New Jersey, expressed gratitude for the donation: “We are grateful to Rook Coffee and all who supported this campaign. Together, we are building a stronger community through mentorship for our youth.”
