Starbucks has explained the reasons behind the closure of its Small Heath store in Birmingham, less than a year after it opened. The branch, located at St Andrew’s Retail Park, shut its doors in August 2024, just eight months after its grand opening in December 2023.
Despite receiving positive reviews from customers, with many calling the venue “stunning” and praising the “great” customer experience, the store faced significant challenges. One of the most notable incidents occurred just days after the store’s opening. Vandals targeted the new location, splashing a large amount of red paint on the entrance. This attack took place only five days after the store opened, leaving staff to clean up the mess.
Now that the store has permanently closed, Starbucks has provided an explanation to BirminghamLive, detailing the reasons behind the decision.
