Ediya Coffee, South Korea’s leading coffee brand, has officially entered the Malaysian market with the opening of its first store in Elmina, Kuala Lumpur, on December 19. This marks a significant step in the company’s international expansion efforts.
With over 20 years of experience, including the success of its operations in Korea and the U.S. Micronesia Mall in Guam, Ediya Coffee is now setting its sights on establishing a strong presence in Malaysia. The Malaysian store launch follows the company’s earlier expansion into Beijing in 2005 and is expected to replicate the brand’s success in Korea by capturing the growing coffee culture in the region.
The new store in Elmina is part of the brand’s first master franchise agreement in Malaysia. Ediya Coffee plans to adapt its operational strategy to the local market to strengthen the image of Korean coffee. Elmina, known as a key business district and satellite city of Kuala Lumpur, is particularly attractive due to its high foot traffic and excellent accessibility.
The two-story Elmina store features a “Drive-through” service and a casual, lounge-like interior, designed with a beige-toned finish. The store will offer a variety of beverages, including drinks made with tropical fruits like coconut, as well as uniquely Korean options such as ‘Sikhye’ (sweet rice drink) and ‘Baked Sweet Potato.’ The bakery section will feature a special ‘K-specialized menu’ tailored to local tastes, offering a range of unique, differentiated items.
In addition to in-store offerings, Ediya Coffee plans to introduce a variety of high-quality retail products, including mixed coffee, stick coffee, Ready-to-Drink (RTD) beverages, and Ready-to-Eat (RTÉ) items. These products will help Ediya expand its global reach and bring the essence of Korean coffee culture to international markets.
Ediya Coffee’s Malaysian expansion marks the beginning of a larger global growth strategy that goes beyond just opening stores. The brand aims to become a major player in the global coffee market by introducing Korean coffee culture worldwide.
