Jordan Budreau, the owner of BPR Commercial and Residential, LLC (BPR) and president of 12X12 Recovery, is opening a new coffee shop in downtown Concordia: The Grind. This new venture is set to open on January 14, 2025, at 8 a.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Chamber of Commerce.
Budreau, a Concordia native, has deep roots in the community. He began his career at just 16 years old by starting a remodeling business, BPR, before serving eight years in the Army. After returning to Concordia post-service, Budreau found his calling in the recovery community and opened the first 12X12 Recovery home in 2022, followed by a women’s recovery home in 2024.
When the old Common Grounds Coffee building came up for sale, Budreau saw an opportunity to combine his passion for supporting recovery with his love for coffee. The building, located on the corner of Broadway and Seventh Street, features a coffee shop on the first floor and apartments on the upper floors. The coffee shop will not only provide jobs for individuals in recovery but also serve as a welcoming space for the entire community.
The Grind will operate seven days a week and offer curbside pick-up, delivery, a drive-thru, online ordering, and a rewards system. Budreau and his new general manager, Sandra Fuller, a veteran and former car business professional, are committed to creating a welcoming environment that benefits both the recovery community and the broader public. “We want a place that feels like home but also flows efficiently,” said Budreau. “No alcohol will be served here, and we aim to create a positive space for everyone.”
One of the unique aspects of The Grind is its potential partnership with a veteran-owned coffee supplier, which would help keep costs low while supporting fellow veterans.
Renovations of the building have been a significant challenge, with substantial investments in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. But with a clear vision in mind, Budreau and Fuller are determined to make The Grind a central gathering spot in Concordia. “This is about giving back to the community and creating a place where people can come together,” Budreau said.
The Grind’s grand opening on January 14, 2025, will coincide with the Chamber of Commerce’s traveling coffee event, making it a day to remember for the Concordia community. The coffee shop is located at 104 East Seventh Street, right in the heart of downtown.
