Starbucks Closes Popular Downtown Location in San Jose

by Jessica

A Starbucks coffee shop located at 145 W. Santa Clara Street brewed its final cup, marking the end of an era for the beloved downtown location. While Starbucks continues to operate 50 stores across San Jose, this closure has left a significant mark on the local community.

The closure comes just weeks after the Pacific Heights Starbucks in San Francisco shut its doors on December 1, 2024. This location had been a staple in the area since it first opened in 1993.

Despite the loss of the downtown location, coffee lovers in San Jose have not been left without options. There are still two nearby Starbucks stores: one at E. Santa Clara and 5th Street, and another at 150 S. First Street, both within walking distance of the closed location.

Starbucks’ presence in the city remains strong, with the company operating multiple stores across San Jose. The recent closures are part of an ongoing evaluation of its store portfolio. According to a statement from the company, Starbucks is carefully assessing the performance and sustainability of its locations. Despite the closures, Starbucks reiterated its commitment to the San Jose market.
