Chris Parvin, founder and CEO of White Rhino Coffee, is focused on more than just growing his business. After opening 15 coffee shops across North Texas, Parvin is using his success to make a positive impact through the newly established White Rhino Coffee Foundation.
Since its first location opened in Cedar Hill in 2007, White Rhino has expanded to 14 more shops, specifically in communities lacking craft coffee options. But Parvin’s mission extends beyond business growth. A native of Cedar Hill, where his family has lived since 1867, Parvin is driven by a strong belief in community and collaboration. “Cedar Hill taught me that no one succeeds alone,” he says. “By investing in each other, we all rise.” This philosophy has shaped his business and his public service, which includes nine years on the Cedar Hill city council and two years as mayor pro tem.
White Rhino’s expansion has been rooted in a desire to connect with local communities. “We want to do more than just say we’re making the world a better place,” Parvin explains. “We want to demonstrate it through our actions.” From baristas serving meals to the homeless to roasters creating custom blends for local nonprofits, the company aims to make a measurable impact.
Parvin has personally donated $1 million to local causes, but his vision for larger change led to the creation of the White Rhino Coffee Foundation in January 2024. The foundation focuses on addressing homelessness, hunger, and at-risk youth by supporting organizations dedicated to these causes. Notable initiatives include funding OurCalling’s efforts to house terminally ill homeless individuals and making a $100,000 donation to sponsor Dallas CASA’s Champion of Children Award Dinner.
