Government Launches Agricultural Expansion Initiative in Region One

In an effort to bolster agricultural production in Region One (Barima-Waini), President Dr. Irfaan Ali unveiled plans to provide substantial support to kickstart this initiative. Addressing residents of Waramuri, the President announced the allocation of 10,000 coffee plants along with various other seedlings to spearhead the expansion.

Dr. Ali emphasized the government’s commitment to revitalizing coffee production in Region One, earmarking the initial investment of 10,000 plants as a pivotal step in this endeavor. He emphasized the focus on fostering the cultivation of both Liberica and Arabica coffee varieties within the region.

However, the agricultural agenda extends beyond coffee cultivation. President Ali revealed plans for a significant ramp-up in coconut production, with the distribution of 20,000 high-value Brazilian coconut seedlings across the region. Additionally, he outlined intentions to boost the cultivation of breadfruit, cassava, and citrus crops in the area.
