Tomoro Coffee, a rapidly growing Indonesian coffee chain backed by ATM Capital, has announced a $10 million investment to expand its presence in the Philippines. The company aims to open 100 stores by the end of 2024 and is actively seeking franchise partners to support this ambitious growth plan.
The coffee chain inaugurated its first Philippine outlet in April 2024, located at the Wynn Plaza apartment complex in Manila. On June 13, 2024, Tomoro Coffee launched a three-story flagship store at Far Eastern University, marking its fifth location in the country.
According to the Project Café East Asia 2024 report by World Coffee Portal, the branded coffee shop market in the Philippines includes over 3,200 outlets. US chains Dunkin’ and Mister Donuts lead the market with 800 and 633 stores respectively. Meanwhile, local operators such as Pickup Coffee and But First, Coffee, along with Malaysian brand ZUS Coffee, are also planning substantial expansions. ZUS Coffee aims to grow from 16 to 150 stores in the Philippines by the end of 2024.
Tomoro Coffee began its journey in Jakarta in August 2022 and has since expanded to over 500 locations across Indonesia. The chain made its international debut in November 2023 with a store in Shanghai, China, followed by an opening at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School in February 2024.
In May 2024, Tomoro Coffee established its first roastery in Jakarta, which has the capacity to produce 2,400 tons of coffee annually. The company stated in a press release that this facility will ensure fresh coffee supply to its stores every 10 days, supporting its goal of reaching 1,000 stores across Southeast Asia within the next year.
