USCC Revise Structure for Regional Qualifiers

by Jessica

The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA)-endorsed United States Coffee Championships (USCC) is reverting to a regional qualifying structure, seeking input from key stakeholders in the coffee industry.

In a recent announcement, the USCC revealed it would abandon its previous format, which included numerous sanctioned regional preliminary events and two qualifying rounds before the national championships. A visual posted on Instagram highlighted the restructured competition, divided into three regions: West, Central, and East.

The USCC encompasses six distinct categories: barista skills, coffee brewing, coffee tasting, latte art, mixology, and roasting.

According to the volunteer-led USCC leadership committee, the revamped three-region format aims to foster a “more sustainable, accessible, and prominent competition framework for U.S. coffee contests.”
