Malaysian Coffee Sensation ZUS Coffee Expands to Singapore

by Jessica

ZUS Coffee, a prominent name among Malaysian coffee enthusiasts, has quickly gained traction since its inception in 2019. The brand, which has successfully established over 580 outlets across Malaysia, has recently made a significant leap into the international market by launching its first store in Singapore.

Impressive Expansion Journey

In just five years, ZUS Coffee has demonstrated remarkable growth. Currently, the brand operates 586 stores in Malaysia and 59 in the Philippines, with its latest venture in Singapore marking a milestone in its expansion strategy. The new outlet, located at Changi Airport’s Terminal 4, officially opened on October 11, 2024. This kiosk serves as a convenient grab-and-go option for travelers, whether they are arriving, departing, or passing through the terminal.

A Sneak Peek at the Singapore Menu

While the full Singapore menu remains undisclosed, initial glimpses from the outlet launch reveal several beverage options. Offerings include the Matcha Strawberry Latte priced at S$5.90 and both the Spanish Latte and Dark Oolong Cham Latte at S$5.50. Drawing from its Malaysian menu, ZUS Coffee is expected to provide an extensive array of beverages ranging from robust espressos to unique flavor combinations, including coconut and butterscotch. It remains to be seen whether the brand will adapt its offerings to cater to Singaporean preferences or maintain its signature selections.

Navigating Singapore’s Competitive Coffee Market

ZUS Coffee enters a competitive landscape in Singapore, where established brands like Starbucks and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf have already secured their presence in Changi Airport’s Terminal 4. Additionally, the market has seen an influx of regional and international coffee chains over the past year, including Indonesia’s Kopi Kenangan, Taiwan’s Louisa Coffee, South Korea’s Compose Coffee, and China’s Greybox Coffee. The surge of coffee brands in Singapore is not surprising, given the country’s high coffee consumption rates, favorable tax policies, and increasing disposable incomes. According to the World Coffee Portal’s Project Cafe East Asia 2024 report, the branded coffee shop market in Singapore is projected to reach 1,250 outlets by 2029.
