A new national coffee trade show, Cafexpo, is slated to debut in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, on March 21-22, 2025. The event is being organized by the Honduran National Coffee Institute (IHCAFE), in collaboration with commercial partners and USAID, through its Sustainable Agribusiness investment initiative.
Cafexpo aims to engage all participants in the coffee supply chain, including producers, equipment and input suppliers, exporters, importers, roasters, retailers, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations. The trade show will feature an exhibition hall, a series of workshops and lectures, and various coffee competitions. International attendees will have numerous opportunities to connect with local coffee producers and schedule additional visits.
“Honduras stands out as the top coffee-producing country in Central America and ranks third in all of Latin America,” stated Karla Calidonio, Marketing Chief at IHCAFE, in an interview with Daily Coffee News. “The variety and complexity of coffee from different origins, each with its unique profiles, will be the main attraction, alongside the opportunity to meet the exceptional individuals behind these remarkable coffees.”
As a significant global coffee producer, Honduras is currently undertaking a national farm renovation program that includes extensive pruning, soil health management, and comprehensive pest and disease control strategies.
“All of this is done with a business mindset,” Calidonio emphasized. “We’re connecting to the market at competitive prices while also prioritizing environmental protection and regeneration.”
On a local and regional level, Cafexpo is expected to facilitate meaningful connections among stakeholders in the national coffee supply chain and their international counterparts.
“Cafexpo represents a pivotal moment for Honduran coffee producers, uniting tradition with innovation as we showcase our dedication to excellence and sustainability,” remarked Benjamin Paz, an award-winning Honduran coffee producer, in a recent announcement from the event organizers. “Together, we are not just cultivating coffee; we are nurturing a bright future for generations to come.”
