La La Land Kind Cafe Expands in Dallas-Fort Worth, Opens Two New Locations

by admin

La La Land Kind Cafe, a vibrant coffee shop dedicated to promoting kindness, continues to grow its presence in Dallas-Fort Worth with the launch of two new stores in the area.

New Location in Preston Royal Village

On November 16, La La Land Kind Cafe opened its latest outlet at 5959 Royal Lane in the upscale Preston Royal Village shopping center. This 1,400-square-foot cafe can accommodate up to 50 guests, joining a bustling area featuring notable neighbors like Central Market by H-E-B.

The grand opening drew an enthusiastic crowd, with lines forming as early as 4 a.m. The store operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and occupies the former site of Public Taco, a Mexican street food eatery that closed in 2021.

Located in the prestigious 75230 ZIP code—ranked as the third wealthiest in Dallas-Fort Worth—this new cafe reflects the area’s affluence. Retail rents at the shopping center range from $55 to $70 per square foot, according to Dallas-based Weitzman.

Founder Francois Reihani expressed excitement about the location, calling it a hub of energy and community engagement. “This has been requested for so long, and it is exciting to be a part of so many peoples’ lives,” Reihani said, describing the opening as a “big step to dominating the market with yellow.”

Upcoming Fitzhugh Avenue Store

La La Land is also gearing up to open another Dallas location on Fitzhugh Avenue near U.S. Route 75. The bright yellow building, adorned with a butterfly embellishment, is replacing the former Buzzbrews restaurant, a local breakfast chain that filed for bankruptcy in late 2023.

Set to open by the end of 2024, the new 1,500-square-foot cafe is currently hiring staff. As part of its mission, La La Land emphasizes employing young adults who have been in the foster care system.

A Growing Presence in Texas and Beyond

The Preston Royal Village cafe marks the company’s eighth location in Dallas-Fort Worth and its 11th in Texas. La La Land also operates six locations in Southern California. Reihani confirmed plans to expand further, eyeing Nashville as a potential site for the brand’s first store outside Texas and California.

Backed by Major Investments

La La Land secured $20 million in funding in July 2023 from notable investors, including John Phelan, chairman emeritus of MSD Capital, and angel investor Andy Teller. The company’s rapid growth earned it the No. 31 spot on the most recent Dallas 100 list, which ranks businesses by three-year revenue growth.

Competition and Market Position

The Preston Royal Village store sits near LDU Coffee, a competing coffee chain with roots in Perth, Australia. LDU offers a more minimalist approach, with a straightforward coffee menu and Australian-inspired breakfast options.

Meanwhile, La La Land continues to carve out its unique identity, focusing on community, kindness, and a mission-driven business model.

With its bold expansion efforts and plans for further growth, La La Land Kind Cafe is solidifying its position as a standout in the coffee shop landscape.
