Baton Collective, the team behind Foxtail Coffee locations in Ada and Holland, is preparing for further expansion. A new Foxtail Coffee shop has been proposed at 1200 Wealthy St. SE near Fuller Avenue, across from Tanger Outlet in Grand Rapids. The location is listed as “coming soon” on the Florida-based coffee chain’s website.
Currently in the design phase, the new shop is expected to open in spring 2025, according to News 8. The Grand Rapids Historic Preservation Commission approved the project last month and plans to review signage proposals in December.
Samuel Nichols, director of business operations for Baton Collective, emphasized the importance of preserving the area’s charm. “We’re working with the city and the historic society to ensure it’s a welcoming space for the community while maintaining the character of old Wealthy Street,” he told News 8.
The proposed location is housed in a 1,900-square-foot building constructed in 1925. Formerly occupied by a Little Caesars restaurant, the property is part of the Wealthy Theater Historic District in Eastown. Plans indicate the coffee shop will seat about 30 guests indoors and up to 40 outdoors, with a garage-style door opening to Wealthy Street during warmer months. Two patios and outdoor lawn games are also planned to create a vibrant community space.
Baton Collective is also finalizing its Foxtail Coffee location in Byron Center, which is expected to open within the next week.
