The Japanese coffee brand % Arabica has opened its third store in Toronto, officially launching at the Eaton Centre on Monday. This new location marks the fourth store in Canada and follows the brand’s successful openings in Yorkdale Shopping Centre (December 2022) and Union Station (July 2023). There is also a store in Whistler, B.C.
Known for its premium coffee and minimalist design, % Arabica continues to draw coffee enthusiasts with its sleek, modern aesthetic. The Union Station location, for instance, was designed by Tacklebox Architecture under the direction of renowned architect Jeremy Barbour.
Founded by Kenneth Shoji in Kyoto, Japan, % Arabica now boasts over 160 locations worldwide. Shoji created the brand to offer what he calls “an amazing cup of coffee every day,” and it has quickly grown into an international favorite. The brand’s slogan, “See the world through coffee,” reflects its global ambition.
The new Eaton Centre store replaces the Starbucks kiosk located near the fountain on the first level of the mall. Starbucks moved to two new locations at either end of the Eaton Centre earlier this year.
The % Arabica kiosk features minimalist design elements, with white counters and gleaming metal beams, and a team of baristas using Slayer Espresso Machines to craft their signature coffee drinks. The menu includes hot and cold espresso options such as Americano, Caffe Latte, Kyoto Latte, Dark Latte (with chocolate), and Spanish Latte. A Matcha Latte and Lemonade are also available, along with a selection of pastries, including plain, almond, and chocolate croissants, cookies, and cannelés (small French cakes). Customers can also purchase coffee beans, tumblers, and coffee grinders.
With its sleek design and high-quality coffee, % Arabica continues to make a strong impact in Toronto’s competitive coffee scene.
