Smartfolks Coffee, a prominent local coffee brand from Indonesia, received the Leading in Coffee F&B Chain Excellence Award at the 2024 China ASEAN Outstanding Business Awards.
Muhammad Fariz Surbakti, Director of Smartfolks Coffee, expressed pride in the award, highlighting Indonesia’s role as one of the world’s largest coffee producers and exporters. “This award reflects the strength of the Indonesian coffee industry on the global stage. It’s a source of pride for our country,” Fariz said in a statement on December 10.
The company’s vision, Fariz explained, is to offer high-quality coffee at affordable prices, inviting more people to enjoy locally sourced coffee. He also emphasized the importance of boosting coffee productivity in Indonesia, where the coffee industry is largely driven by smallholder farmers. “Improving productivity is crucial to generating jobs and supporting the livelihoods of coffee farmers,” he added.
Smartfolks Coffee’s success is also attributed to strong support from coffee enthusiasts, a committed team, and the contribution of Indonesian coffee farmers. The brand sources its coffee from Aceh Gayo, a region known for its rich coffee culture.
Since its establishment in 2019, Smartfolks Coffee has rapidly expanded and now operates more than 80 stores across Indonesia. The company’s growth, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic, has increased local coffee production and positively impacted the livelihoods of coffee farmers.
“We’re proud to be a brand that uses local coffee for Indonesians, by Indonesians,” said Witarsih, Chief of Operations at Smartfolks Coffee, highlighting the company’s commitment to supporting local farmers and expanding their reach.
