Global specialty coffee and tea company The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has entered into a master franchise agreement with Ekaagra Ostalaritza Pvt Ltd to enhance its footprint in India. This partnership aims to open 250 new cafés across the country over the next five years, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to tapping into one of the world’s fastest-growing coffee and tea markets.
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf highlighted that India’s evolving café culture and rising demand for premium coffee and tea experiences create a ripe environment for growth. Yousif Abdulghani, Chief Development Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are delighted to partner with Ekaagra Ostalaritza to accelerate our growth in India.” He noted that the local expertise of Ekaagra Ostalaritza makes them an ideal partner for this venture.
Ekaagra Ostalaritza is led by Prannay Sureka, an investor in the retail and food and beverage sectors. The team brings extensive experience from India’s F&B industry, which will be crucial for navigating the local market. Prashant Kumar, Chief Strategy Officer of Ekaagra Ostalaritza, remarked, “With our deep understanding of the Indian market and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s superior product portfolio, we aim to redefine café culture in India.”
Founded in California in 1963, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has expanded globally, operating over 1,200 locations across 20 countries. The brand was acquired by Jollibee Foods Corporation in 2019 and has been actively seeking to grow its international presence. This agreement marks a significant step in its strategy to enhance its market share in India, building on its initial entry into the country in 2008.
