Bean Wandering, a local mobile coffee truck that gained widespread attention through viral TikTok videos, is set to open a new café in downtown St. Petersburg next month. The café will offer its popular canned-to-order iced coffee and a small food menu from The Crumb Factory.
The new location will be at the ground floor of the 12-story City Center office building at 100 2nd Avenue South. This space was previously occupied by the restaurant chain Nature’s Table, which will be replaced by Bean Wandering in a newly redesigned lobby area.
Owner Hanna Rewerts, who started the business as a hobby in June 2023, said she never imagined opening a physical coffee shop. “I never thought I’d have a space in downtown St. Pete,” Rewerts told St. Pete Rising.
Rewerts, with a background in healthcare, and her wife Kara, a commercial landscaper, invested $25,000 into the mobile coffee business. Their venture quickly gained attention on TikTok, where influencers like “There and Beck” helped the business go viral. A TikTok video showcasing Bean Wandering’s unique iced coffee process has garnered more than 2.4 million views.
Rewerts credits social media for the business’s rapid growth. “Without word of mouth and people sharing our content, I would not be where I’m at today,” she said.
Bean Wandering will be expanding with its second location. Earlier this year, Rewerts opened a coffee counter at Run and Play Kids Cafe in St. Petersburg’s Central Oak Park neighborhood. The success of this venture led to the opportunity to open a café at City Center, where the management team invited Bean Wandering to host a pop-up event. Rewerts later learned that the building’s owners, Feldman Equities, were looking for a coffee vendor for their ground-floor space.
The café’s opening coincides with a multi-million dollar renovation of the City Center building. The upgrades include a redesigned atrium lobby, modernized elevators, updated lobby bathrooms, and new landscaping.
Bean Wandering’s new café will offer iced coffee flavors such as brown sugar, mocha, cookie dough, and matcha lattes. For those who prefer non-coffee drinks, they also serve raspberry lemonade shaker, made with lemonade, raspberry syrup, coconut, ice, and lime.
The menu will feature a variety of lattes, energy drinks, and teas. Food options, prepared in collaboration with The Crumb Factory, will include avocado toast, croissants, banana bread, overnight oats, sandwiches, protein bowls, and soufflé quiches. Vegetarian and gluten-free options will also be available.
The café will offer both indoor and outdoor seating, with views of Al Lang Stadium, home to the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
Once it opens in January, Bean Wandering’s café will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to the new location, Rewerts and her wife will continue to run their mobile coffee cart for special events.
