Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is expanding its presence in Colorado Springs with the grand opening of its third location on Saturday, December 14. The new store is located at 13941 Bass Pro Drive in the Polaris Point entertainment district.
The expansion is led by local entrepreneurs Lee Wilwerding and Starlene Cook, who first opened their doors in the Springs three years ago. Wilwerding, with his background in managing multi-location businesses, partnered with Cook, who brings her own business experience to the team.
Wilwerding’s passion for Hawaiian coffee began during his late-night shifts as a veterinarian. His love for the brew deepened after a transformative trip to Hawaii, where he discovered Bad Ass Coffee. “Bringing Bad Ass Coffee to Colorado Springs has been an incredible journey,” said Wilwerding. “Opening our third location is proof of how much this community appreciates the bold, authentic flavors of Hawaiian coffee. We’re excited to share a taste of paradise in the North Gate area.”
The coffee brand’s name honors the history of Hawaiian coffee, where donkeys were once used to carry coffee beans down the mountains.
“We’re excited to open our third location in Colorado Springs, furthering our mission to bring premium Hawaiian coffee and the Aloha Spirit to the community,” said Gregg Koffler, Chief Development Officer of Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii. “This milestone strengthens our presence in the region, and we look forward to connecting with more coffee lovers.”
Cook currently manages the first two Bad Ass Coffee locations in the city. At the grand opening, guests will enjoy giveaways, games, and, of course, coffee.
