Starbucks has announced the closure of its Dumfries High Street store, leaving many customers in shock. The store, which opened over ten years ago, is one of two Starbucks locations in Dumfries and Galloway.
When the store first opened in 2014, it employed 12 staff members. The café will serve its final orders in January before staff are reassigned to other locations across Scotland.
A Starbucks spokesperson explained, “We regularly review our portfolio to ensure our stores meet customer needs. Our Dumfries High Street store will close on January 12, and we are working to offer positions to our partners at nearby stores.”
The spokesperson also expressed gratitude to the store’s loyal customers, adding, “We thank our customers for their support over the years and encourage them to visit our nearby store at Starbucks Coffee, Annan Road, Dumfries DG1 3SE. For other locations, customers can use the Starbucks store locator.”
The announcement took many by surprise, with some locals expressing disappointment. One regular customer remarked, “Another good shop gone.”
