A new coffee shop is set to open in Denton County, Texas, after the Flower Mound Town Council approved a zoning change this week. The approval will allow Marty B’s Coffee to establish a location at the corner of FM 2499 and Lakeside Parkway, complete with a double drive-through.
Marty B’s Coffee was founded by restaurateurs Marty Bryan and Brian Gasperson in Bartonville, Texas. Bryan shared the company’s mission, saying, “Our purpose is to create spaces for people to come together, connect with their friends and family, and celebrate life.” He also emphasized that no expense was spared in the design of the shop, which takes inspiration from the Drover Hotel in Fort Worth.
While the zoning change was approved on Monday, some town council members voiced concerns about potential traffic issues, particularly related to the drive-through lanes and parking. Another point of contention was the use of greenspace west of the new coffee shop.
Council member Brian Taylor expressed his support for the project but acknowledged the limitations of the site. “I like this project; I like it in this location. I do share the concerns that we’re not utilizing the green space,” he said.
There was also discussion about reducing the two-lane drive-through to a single lane. Bryan said he would consider this, but warned that it could limit his business’s future growth. Earlier this month, Flower Mound’s planning and zoning commission had recommended approval of the zoning change.
