Specialty coffee roaster Coffee Supreme has earned B Corp certification, achieving an impressive score of 85.4.
In a statement, the company shared that this certification marks a significant milestone, reflecting its commitment to the highest social and environmental standards. These include paying farmers above-market prices, supporting sustainable farming practices, promoting community development, and reducing its carbon footprint.
“This B Corp Certification reflects what we’ve always stood for — using coffee as a force for good,” said Andrew Low, CEO of Coffee Supreme. “It’s not the finish line but recognition of the journey we’ve been on for years. Together, we’ll keep building on this foundation to create even greater impact.”
The certification process, which began in 2022, was spearheaded by Fraser Lovell, Head of Sustainability and NZ Procurement. Lovell explained that the evaluation assessed the wellbeing of employees, suppliers, and customers, as well as the company’s broader environmental and community impact.
“I hope it raises the bar for what people expect from coffee businesses,” said Lovell. “B Corp highlights key issues like fair payment across the supply chain, sustainable farming practices, and the importance of treating coffee as something much more than a commodity. It’s about trust, awareness, and accountability — and I hope it encourages more businesses to step up.”
B Corp certification requires a score of 80 or above, with companies undergoing recertification every three years.
