Café Miriam, a popular local French-Moroccan café, is expanding with a second location set to open in Uptown. Known for its crepes, coffee, and Moroccan-inspired dishes, the new café will be located at 1707 Lafayette Street, according to Business Den.
The original Café Miriam, established in 2017 near City Park by Touhami Elfahdi, quickly became a local favorite. The family-owned café has earned a loyal following for its unique blend of French and Moroccan flavors. The new Uptown location is housed in a renovated building that previously hosted Waffle Brothers, with renovations costing around $140,000.
Larger Space, Expanded Menu
The new Uptown café will feature a spacious 1,700-square-foot space spread across two floors. The Elfahdi family plans to bring their signature menu to the new location, including crepes, sandwiches, and traditional Moroccan tagines. In addition to their well-loved offerings, they will also introduce new items, such as pastries from renowned chef Pascal Trompeau and traditional Moroccan mint tea.
Weekend Hours and Community Events
Initially, the Uptown location will operate on weekends, with plans to transition to full-time hours in the spring. The Elfahdi family envisions using the space for community-focused events, including Moroccan-themed dinners and movie nights.
