Grenade Coffee, a veteran-owned company, is led by Clarence Jenkins, a retired U.S. Marine with 20 years of service. The company offers a variety of high-quality coffee beans, all sourced directly from their origin.
For Jenkins, running Grenade Coffee brings back memories of his time in the military. “I love coffee! One thing I always emphasized to my team during my time in the service was perseverance—no matter how tough the day gets, keep moving forward,” he says.
Much like in the military, veteran business owners often support one another. “We help each other out. We’re all striving to improve, whether it’s for our families or personal growth. What you don’t know, someone else will, and we try to make things happen for each other,” Jenkins explains.
Starting a business, however, comes with its challenges. Jenkins admits there have been tough moments. “You’re going to face a lot of trials and setbacks, but the key is to keep going. There are times I want to quit, but I remind myself to push through,” he says.
For other veterans considering starting their own business, Jenkins offers simple advice: “Make a plan and write it down, but most importantly, push forward. Believe in yourself. Even if you fail, you’re still learning and growing.”
