Sydney’s White Horse Coffee has announced that its beloved Soul of the South – National Park Blend is now a permanent part of its specialty coffee collection. The blend, which was initially launched as a limited-edition release in 2022, quickly became a fan favorite and will now be a staple offering.
Named in honor of the Royal National Park, a cherished coastal bushland near the roastery, the Soul of the South blend is a tribute to the natural beauty and spirit of the area. Co-Founder Dominick Majdandzic explained that the blend was crafted to capture the essence of the park, with its distinctive presence, aromas, and natural landscapes.
“As a kid growing up in Sydney’s south, the Royal National Park was the backdrop of our childhood. We saw it, heard it, and smelled it every day,” said Dominick. “It was always there, enriching our daily lives as we went to school, soccer training, or the beach. This blend is our way of honoring the Soul of the South, a place that continues to bring us joy.”
The Soul of the South blend features two standout coffees: Honduras Montecillo, a washed coffee known for its exceptional quality, and Alon Indonesia Gayo, a wet-hulled coffee from the Gayo Highlands of Aceh Province. The resulting blend boasts tasting notes of salt bush, cedar, and caramel.
“This blend is incredibly versatile,” Dominick shared. “It’s roasted to an espresso profile but works beautifully as a filter coffee as well. It pairs wonderfully with milk beverages and is known for its exceptional flavor.”
For a special treat, Dominick recommends pairing it with vanilla ice cream for a delicious affogato. “The fusion of hot espresso with cold ice cream, along with the sweetness of vanilla and salted caramel notes, makes for an unforgettable dessert,” he added.
