Blue Bottle Coffee, a brand that began in a Bay Area potting shed, is expanding again, this time with a new location in the UnCommons development in southwest Las Vegas.
A “Coming Soon” sign featuring the brand’s iconic blue bottle logo is now visible in the windows of the new space on Tom Rodriguez Street, next to Teaspoon, a popular boba shop. The company has also posted a job listing on LinkedIn for a senior cafe leader in Las Vegas, signaling its plans to open soon.
Known for its focus on freshness and the quality of its single-origin coffees, Blue Bottle became a leader in the coffee industry by emphasizing lighter roasts and sustainable sourcing long before these became popular trends among average coffee drinkers.
The company was founded by James Freeman, a former professional clarinetist, who started roasting coffee in 2002 in a rented potting shed in Oakland, California. Freeman initially sold his coffee at farmers markets, and in 2005, he opened the first Blue Bottle café in a converted garage in San Francisco.
In 2017, Blue Bottle sold a majority stake to Nestlé for approximately $700 million, allowing it to expand into a global brand. Today, the company operates cafes across the U.S. and Asia, offering specialty-grade coffee, including both single-origin and blended varieties. Blue Bottle also sells a range of products through its online store, including coffee subscriptions, matcha, drinkware, and brew tools.
