At Café Dulzura, bright orange faux marigolds adorn the counter, and a smiling skull from the shop’s logo grins from the wall. “I want it to be Día de los Muertos every day here,” says Maria Cid, the proud owner of this vibrant coffee shop in Burien’s Boulevard Park neighborhood.
Fresh flowers grace every table, and each drink is infused with authentic Mexican flavors. However, it’s Cid’s passionate energy that truly fills the small space, creating an atmosphere rich in color and spirit. Her deep love for Mexico City, where she grew up, and for Seattle, her home for over three decades, converge in the realization of her long-time dream: to open a Mexican coffee shop.
