At the 2025 CES tech trade show in Las Vegas, New York-based startup Kara introduced a groundbreaking coffee machine that taps into atmospheric water. The Kara Pod, a dual-purpose device, uses air-to-water technology to create both drinking water and coffee, revolutionizing the way we think about water in the coffee-making process.
The Kara Pod is built on the technology behind Kara’s existing air-to-water generators, such as the Kara Pure 2, which captures water from the air, purifies it with heat treatment, UV light, and replaceable filters. The Kara Pod turns this purified atmospheric water into clean drinking water or freshly brewed coffee, offering up to 13 cups of water or coffee per day.
Kara also prioritizes sustainability with the use of fully compostable coffee pods made from plant-based fibers. While the company has not yet confirmed an official release date, it is expected to launch in March at a price of $299.
Kara’s innovation earned recognition as a CES 2025 Home Appliances honoree, highlighting its potential to transform the coffee industry and water consumption.
