Austin-based coffee chain El Tigre Coffee Roasters is set to open its first San Antonio location next month in St. Paul Square. The new shop will occupy the space at 123 Heiman St., previously home to Vice Versa Coffee & Music, which closed last spring due to costly air-conditioning repairs and other financial difficulties.
The San Antonio location will offer a global selection of roasted coffee beans, a variety of hot and iced beverages, and ample indoor seating. In addition to coffee, the shop will feature light breakfast and lunch options. The El Tigre team has yet to announce an official grand opening date, but they plan to reveal the full menu closer to the launch.
This new location marks a special milestone for El Tigre founder Tatanka Guerrero, who hails from San Antonio. Guerrero, also the founder of Dreamers & Doers Hospitality, hinted at future projects in the city, including new culinary concepts.
“We can’t wait to get to know our new downtown Eastside neighbors, including local bakers, pastry chefs, farmers, and producers, as we source as much as we can locally,” Guerrero shared in an online statement. “I also have some exciting new culinary concepts coming soon to San Antonio, so there’s a lot to look forward to.”
El Tigre’s soft-opening hours will be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
