Urban Sailor Coffee, a popular family-run coffee business in Salt Lake City, is expanding to Park City. This spring, the company will open its third location in the former Ritual Chocolate space on Iron Horse Drive. The new spot will be its largest yet, covering 2,000 square feet.
The business began during the pandemic with a unique twist. Owner Tyler Anderson and his son, Archer, served espresso from a Russian sidecar motorcycle. “We started with a mobile coffee cart made from a motorcycle,” said Tyler. “We added walnut countertops, bought a handmade espresso machine from Italy, and started doing pop-up events downtown. It really took off.”
Today, Urban Sailor Coffee is a growing family operation. Archer, 25, who helped launch the business, is now a full partner and the brand’s public face. His older brother, Levi, 28, serves as head roaster, while younger brothers Burton, 19, and Canon, 21, work as baristas.
The name “Urban Sailor” comes from Tyler’s days in Seattle, where he spent time on a friend’s sailboat-turned-houseboat. “We jokingly called ourselves urban sailors because the boat had a Volvo motor, and we would unhook it and cruise around Lake Union by downtown Seattle,” he explained.
