A new coffee shop, Stitch Coffee, is set to open soon in Canton, offering a variety of coffee flavors and sweet treats for the local community.
Stitch Coffee, a family-owned venture by co-owners Dave and Geralyn Hickey, will have its soft opening on February 21. A grand opening is planned for about 60 days later. The coffee shop is located at 135 Reinhardt College Parkway, next to Moe’s in the Riverstone area of Canton.
The name “Stitch Coffee” pays tribute to Canton’s history with its historic cotton mills. Dave Hickey explained that much of the town’s past revolves around the mill and the process of stitching denim together. The shop’s name reflects their goal of helping “stitch” the community together as well.
The Hickeys, originally from New Jersey, previously owned a coffee shop called The Coffee Potter. After selling the business two years ago, they moved to Canton to be closer to their daughters, Sarah Medranda and Anna Dower. Medranda and Dower are business partners and will be involved in the daily operations, marketing, and social media for the new coffee shop.
