Monkey Dog Coffee, a beloved local café known for its commitment to community and small businesses, recently hosted a special vendor pop-up event to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Held on Saturday morning, the event featured a curated selection of drinks and local artisans, including LucyLinx, offering permanent jewelry, and Flowweird Designs, showcasing alternative floral arrangements.
Originally founded as Blackstone Ave Coffee in 2017, Monkey Dog Coffee started by importing and roasting green beans for nationwide distribution. In 2020, the owners decided to open a storefront, but the pandemic delayed their plans. After a year-long search, they found their home in Clovis and officially rebranded to Monkey Dog Coffee. The café’s name, inspired by playful nicknames for the owners’ children, became a unique and charming aspect of the brand.
The Valentine’s pop-up allowed local customers to explore unique gifts for their loved ones while supporting small businesses. Danielle Jordan, an event attendee, expressed her appreciation for community-driven events. “I love discovering new vendors at these events,” Jordan said. “If I like something, I make sure to support them beyond just one event.” Jordan purchased permanent bracelets for herself and her daughter, Eleanor, from LucyLinx. These no-fuss jewelry pieces are applied directly to the skin and stay securely in place until the wearer chooses to remove them.
