Pret A Manger has decided to keep its £5 monthly subscription for up to five coffees a day, reversing a previous plan to double the cost.
The sandwich chain informed its subscribers that the Club Pret subscription will stay at £5 per month. In a message to members, Pret explained, “At Pret, we believe in offering high-quality, organic coffee and Barista-made drinks at fantastic value. With Club Pret, you’ll continue to enjoy great savings on up to five Barista-made drinks per day.”
Earlier, Pret had announced an increase to £10 per month, set to begin March 31, after a temporary “50% off” promotion ended.
This follows a shift in July last year when Pret changed its £360-a-year subscription plan. The new deal offered 50% off up to five coffees a day for £10 per month but removed a 20% food discount to eliminate dual pricing. Pret explained that the dual pricing was something they “never really got comfortable with.”
Before these changes, Club Pret members could enjoy up to five drinks daily for a £30 monthly fee.
In March of last year, Pret also implemented new rules to prevent members from sharing their free drink benefits with others, after some customers exploited loopholes.
