Georgia and Grant Fraser launched Cortino in August 2024, combining their love for coffee and Scottish whisky to create a unique line of barrel-aged coffee. Their innovative approach aims to transform the traditional coffee experience with exciting, distinct flavors.
Cortino’s coffee beans are sourced from Brazilian farms and aged in whisky barrels from across Scotland, which imparts a rich and smooth depth of flavor. The beans are then roasted locally in Edinburgh, with each batch offering a unique taste profile.
With backgrounds in sustainable product design, Georgia and Grant are committed to ensuring their business is environmentally conscious. They use sustainable packaging and work with responsible suppliers to minimize their ecological footprint.
Throughout their start-up journey, local Business Gateway adviser Lee Briggs has played a key role in supporting Cortino, offering advice on business planning, marketing strategies, and funding opportunities. Lee has also connected them with local contacts and introduced them to events and growth opportunities.
After a successful launch in 2024, Cortino’s coffee has been well-received at local markets and trade shows. Looking ahead to 2025, Georgia and Grant are focused on scaling the business and introducing their one-of-a-kind coffee to a wider audience, with exciting whisky collaborations already in the works.
Their growth has been supported by a £4,000 grant from Business Gateway, which will fund marketing activities and trade show events as Cortino prepares for a busy and successful year ahead.
