Birdy’s Coffee House in Libertyville has officially closed its doors after six years of serving the community. Owners Dan Temesy and Maria Mandarino announced the closure on Sunday, February 9, explaining that the building housing the café is likely being sold to make way for a condo development.
In a heartfelt message on Facebook, the couple thanked the Libertyville community for their unwavering support over the years. “Thank you for your smiles, your loyalty, and for sharing your families with us,” Temesy and Mandarino wrote. “What we will miss most is creating a cozy and welcoming space for the children who passed through our doors. It has been so heartwarming to watch them grow up and enjoy their time here.”
The owners also reflected on the joy they found in their time running the café. “We have drawn strength from the community we built together, not to mention the friendships we’ve forged,” they added.
