Four cafes from the Philippines have made it to the prestigious “World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops” list for 2025, announced during the Coffee Fest in Madrid, Spain on February 17.
Yardstick Coffee, with multiple locations in Metro Manila, earned the 18th spot, followed by El Union Coffee in La Union at 61st, marking it as the only café outside Metro Manila to make the list. Single Origin, which also has branches in Metro Manila, placed 83rd, while Crema & Cream Coffee Roasters in Quezon City ranked 86th.
The top five coffee shops globally were Toby’s Estate Coffee Roasters (Australia), Onyx Coffee LAB (United States), Gota Coffee Experts (Austria), Proud Mary Coffee (Australia), and Tim Wendelboe (Norway).
The rankings were based on a comprehensive set of criteria, including coffee quality, barista expertise, customer service, innovation, atmosphere, sustainability practices, and the quality of food and pastries. Public voting accounted for 30% of the final score, while a panel of specialty coffee experts and industry professionals made up the remaining 70%.
