On a cold Wednesday in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Crater City Coffee Company was the perfect place to escape the chill and enjoy a warm drink. Located on the town’s main corridor, the coffee shop provided a cozy retreat for residents like the Bay family, who were looking for a fun activity while their kids were home from school.
“We love our small town, and especially when it snows, it’s so picturesque,” said Kristy Bay. “The kids wanted to play outside in the snow, so we decided to take a walk and support one of our favorite local coffee shops.”
Crater City Coffee Company, which opened in 2022, offers a wide selection of drinks, including drip coffee made with their own beans, lattes, and energy drinks topped with cold foam.
“My favorite is ‘The Judy,’ named after one of the owners. It’s a cinnamon sugar latte. My husband enjoys a plain Americano,” Bay shared.
But the Bays weren’t the only ones stopping by for a warm drink. August Harp made the drive from Tennessee to enjoy a coffee despite the snowy weather.
“I wasn’t prepared for the snow,” Harp admitted. “I think others knew it was coming, but I just woke up and found snow everywhere.”
Though the snow made the trip a little more challenging, Harp said he managed to clear off his car with a bit of creative problem-solving.
“I used my arm to scrape off the ice,” he said. “As a Mississippian with no proper tools, it wasn’t too bad though.”
