Dutch Bros, the Oregon-based coffee chain that recently went viral on TikTok, has reached a major milestone by opening its 1,000th store.
Founded in 1992, Dutch Bros is one of the fastest-growing coffee chains in the United States. The brand has gained significant attention through the coffee-review culture on TikTok, where customers share detailed reviews of their Dutch Bros experiences.
Currently, Dutch Bros operates in 18 states, with most of its locations in Oregon, California, and Texas. Despite its strong presence in the West, the chain has its sights set on a goal of 4,000 stores across the U.S. However, it has yet to expand to the East Coast, where competitors like Dunkin’ and Starbucks have dominated for years.
One key factor behind Dutch Bros’ success is its business model, which focuses heavily on drive-thru locations. As consumer demand for convenience grows, drive-thrus have become a major investment for successful coffee chains, including Starbucks and Dunkin’. According to World Coffee Portal’s Project Café USA 2025 report, 27% of U.S. consumers used a drive-thru for their most recent coffee visit, and 55% prefer it over entering the coffee shop.
