Barista, one of Sri Lanka’s leading coffee brands, is on a mission to make coffee a regular part of daily life for every Sri Lankan, says CEO Dilupa Pathirana.
Pathirana discussed the company’s rapid expansion plans and its goal to introduce coffee culture across the island.
“Our mission is to make coffee a social and accessible drink for all,” Pathirana explained. “Whether you’re studying, working, meeting a friend, or just relaxing, we want coffee to be part of your daily routine. Our vision is simple—we want to integrate coffee into every part of life in Sri Lanka.”
Barista has been growing quickly and now operates over 75,000 square feet of café space across the country. The brand is expanding beyond Colombo, with new locations in cities like Kandy, Sigiriya, and Kurunegala, bringing high-quality coffee to more regions.
But the company’s expansion goes beyond serving coffee. “We’re not just selling coffee,” Pathirana added. “We’re creating spaces where people can connect, work, and grow. Each of our cafés is designed to be a community hub, offering a place to relax, meet up, or get some work done.”
