Tyler Anderson, a digital marketing veteran, founded Urban Sailor Coffee alongside his son during the COVID-19 pandemic. The duo started with a unique mobile coffee station—mounting an Italian-built espresso machine on a sidecar motorcycle in 2020.
“It took off,” Anderson said, noting that the mobile setup was a hit at events like the Kimball Arts Festival in Park City.
Building on that success, Urban Sailor opened its first brick-and-mortar store near Sugar House Park in late 2021, followed by a second location in Salt Lake City’s rapidly developing Post District.
Anderson has been eyeing Park City for expansion for years, especially after the strong reception at the 2021 Kimball Arts Festival. “We had a long line for three days, and a lot of residents said, ‘You guys would crush it up here with a coffee shop,’” Anderson recalled.
In May, Urban Sailor will open its third location on Iron Horse Drive in Park City, near the start of the Rail Trail. The space was previously home to Ritual Chocolate.
