Jo’s Coffee, a beloved Austin coffee shop from Bunkhouse Hotels, has opened its first location outside its hometown in Houston Heights. The new café is located at 1023 Studewood Street at East 10 1/2 Street, housed in a modern building designed in collaboration with Hip.Hop.Design Studio.
This marks the eighth Jo’s Coffee location since the original shop opened on South Congress Avenue in 1999, next to Hotel San José. Known for its stylish design and focus on community experiences, Jo’s Coffee is part of Bunkhouse Hotels’ growing presence in Houston. The brand recently opened the Hotel Saint Augustine and Perseid restaurant in Montrose, with plans for the Hotel Daphne in the Heights this fall.
Jo’s Coffee has partnered with La Colombe Coffee Roasters to create a special blend, a medium roast with notes of milk chocolate, nuts, and honey. The café offers a variety of coffee drinks, along with breakfast tacos, pastries, craft beer, and frosé.
“We’re excited to open our first location outside of Austin. After opening Hotel Saint Augustine and with the upcoming Hotel Daphne, we’ve really fallen in love with Houston, and we can’t wait to share our Jo’s Coffee experience with the city,” said Lisa Bonifacio, president of Bunkhouse Hotels.
