Black & Brass Coffee Roasting Co., a coffee roasting company with three existing cafés in Wayne County, is planning to open a new location in downtown Scranton this spring. The café will occupy the Samter’s Building at 101 Penn Ave., a space previously home to Commonwealth Coffeehouse before it closed in September.
The company, known for its community-focused approach, currently operates cafés in Hawley, Salem Township, and Honesdale, alongside its roastery in Lake Ariel. Owner Travis Rivera expressed excitement about expanding to Scranton, stating, “All of our cafés are meant as community spaces. We’re excited to be a part of Scranton’s cultural pulse and offer a place where people can relax, enjoy freshly-roasted coffee, and explore local art, music, and culture.”
The new Scranton location will feature a full espresso bar, offering high-quality coffee in a vibrant community setting. Black & Brass looks forward to contributing to the city’s dynamic arts and culture scene.
