Tim Coonan, co-owner of Big Shoulders Coffee, has been anticipating rising coffee prices for months. Coffee costs reached an all-time high in January, and Coonan has had ongoing discussions about how to manage the increase.
“We’ve seen this coming for a while,” Coonan said. “While the changes are happening quickly, we’ve positioned ourselves well with our 2025 coffee purchases.”
Despite this careful planning, the coffee shop is not immune to the effects of higher prices. Though Big Shoulders has not yet raised its prices, Coonan confirmed that a small increase is being discussed.
“We haven’t made any changes yet in our cafes, but a price increase is coming,” he explained.
Coonan is optimistic about Big Shoulders’ ability to weather the price hike. “Coffee is more than just a drink—it’s a way to build community,” he said. “People will continue to buy it, and we’ll continue to serve them.”
