The Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, themed “Buon Ma Thuot – Destination of World Coffee,” has officially begun, drawing tens of thousands of participants. The five-day event is organized by the Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee in partnership with various central ministries and agencies.
The festival’s opening ceremony took place at March 10 Square in Buon Ma Thuot City, creating a vibrant atmosphere for coffee enthusiasts and industry leaders alike.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highlighted the festival’s significance. He emphasized that it not only celebrates Vietnamese coffee but also serves as a global platform for coffee-producing and consuming nations to work together toward a more sustainable future.
“Coffee is one of Vietnam’s key agricultural exports and a source of livelihood for millions of farmers. As the world’s second-largest coffee exporter after Brazil, Vietnam plays a crucial role in the global coffee supply chain. The industry is now focusing on sustainability, increasing product value, and expanding the value chain,” Ha stated.
Vietnam’s coffee exports reached a record $5 billion in 2024, further cementing the country’s position in the global market.
Dak Lak, often referred to as Vietnam’s coffee capital, contributes about 18% of the country’s total coffee export revenue. The ‘Buon Ma Thuot Coffee’ brand, along with its geographical indication, is now recognized in more than 80 countries and territories worldwide.
The festival aims to promote Vietnamese coffee while fostering international cooperation in the coffee industry.
