Shibam Coffee, a Michigan-based Yemeni coffee chain, has opened a new location in Westerville, Ohio, at 8310 Sancus Blvd., near Polaris Fashion Place. This marks the brand’s first shop in the Columbus area, adding to its other Ohio locations in Cleveland, as well as stores in Arizona, Texas, and Michigan.
The brand’s name is inspired by Shibam, a historic city in eastern Yemen known for its mudbrick high-rise buildings, often referred to as the world’s oldest skyscrapers. Shibam Coffee aims to bring the resilience and spirit of this ancient city to coffee lovers, offering a taste of Yemen’s rich coffee culture.
Each location’s menu features a variety of coffees, teas, espressos, and refreshers, with flavors like dragon fruit and strawberry acai. Pastries include croissants, pistachio bites, Basbosa (a sweet, syrup-soaked cake), honeycomb treats, cream-cheese filled dough balls, and cheesecake.
Shibam’s arrival in central Ohio comes as another Yemeni coffee chain, Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co., also expands in the area, having recently opened its third shop in Dublin.
