James Coffee Co., a small-batch coffee company based in Escondido, is preparing to open a new location at 10195 Rancho Carmel Drive in Carmel Mountain Ranch. The café will be the company’s fourth brick-and-mortar shop and is expected to open later this year at Rancho Carmel Plaza, likely taking over a former Starbucks location, according to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality.
While the official opening date remains unclear, the new café will feature the same high-quality coffee options as James Coffee Co.’s existing locations in Escondido, Bankers Hill, and North Park. Additionally, the company may be working on another project, as its Yelp page for 2355 India Street mentions a reopening date of August 1, 2025, though this has not yet been confirmed by What Now.
James Coffee Co. is known for its artisan, small-batch approach, offering a rotating selection of single-origin beans and signature blends. By focusing on traditional roasting methods, the company ensures each batch brings out the best flavors, delivering a consistently high-quality cup of coffee.
The new location is set in a prime retail hub at the intersection of Rancho Carmel Drive and Ted Williams Parkway, just off the I-15 freeway. Surrounded by popular businesses such as Oggi’s Pizza & Brewing, Nova Nail Spa, and Huntington Learning Center, the café is well-positioned to attract local customers and coffee lovers alike.
