Joe & The Juice, the Danish coffee chain, has made a significant leadership appointment, naming former Starbucks UK executive Jon James as its UK Managing Director.
James will be at the helm of the company’s UK operations, with a primary focus on expanding its network of 74 stores. Additionally, he plans to strengthen the leadership team and introduce menu innovations.
In May 2024, Thomas Nørøxe, the CEO of Joe & The Juice, expressed his vision of opening up to 500 stores in the UK as part of the brand’s ambitious plan to reach 1,000 outlets worldwide by 2029. Currently, the UK stands as the brand’s second – largest market globally, trailing only Denmark.
James shared his excitement, stating, “I am thrilled to join at such an exciting time and look forward to driving the brand’s growth and innovation in the UK. With our investment in leadership, store development, and operational excellence, we are well – positioned to take Joe & The Juice to new heights and deliver market – leading products and hospitality to our guests.”
James has an extensive background at Starbucks, where he spent over 25 years. Starting as a Store Manager in 1998, his most recent role was as the Director of UK Retail and Central Operations.
He takes over from Lauritz Bolton, who previously oversaw the UK market along with the Nordic Region. Now, Bolton will concentrate solely on the Nordic markets.
James’ appointment comes just under a month after Joe & The Juice named former Pret A Manger and Panera Bread executive Jorrie Bruffett as the Managing Director for its 67 – store US business.
Established in Copenhagen in 2002, Joe & The Juice currently operates 400 stores globally. This includes 72 stores in Denmark, 67 in the US, and 46 across five markets in the Middle East.
