The SSP Group, a global travel concession operator, is set to launch a novel café concept in Australia this year. This initiative comes as part of a four – unit contract at Perth Airport.
In a press statement, the company announced that its Co & Co (Coffee & Cocktails) concept will debut at Perth Airport’s Terminal 1 before the close of 2025. The café will serve locally roasted coffee, a signature cocktail menu, along with bao buns and sweet delicacies.
Aiming to capture an “authentic essence of Western Australia,” the SSP Group stated that the store’s enhanced aesthetic mirrors the state’s landscape and architecture, incorporating themes of water, earth, sky, and trees.
As part of this contract win, the SSP Group will also open a bespoke bar and casual dining concept named WA Cellar, the Vietnamese street food restaurant Roll’d, and the sushi chain Sushi Jiro at the travel hub.
Jonathan Robinson, the CEO of the Asia Pacific region for the SSP Group, remarked, “We’ve been a long – term partner of Perth Airport for five years. We’re thrilled to continue serving its passengers through this esteemed contract. As food travel connoisseurs, we have in – depth knowledge and understanding of the food and beverage preferences of Australian travellers. We’re confident that our new dining concepts, with a strong emphasis on Australian and Asian cuisines, will be highly popular among those flying in and out of Perth.”
The UK – based SSP Group manages 2,900 food and beverage outlets in travel hubs across 38 markets worldwide.
The travel concession operator has had a footprint in Australia since 2009 and has been operating at Perth Airport since 2019, following its acquisition of the food & beverage business of Australian hospitality group Red Rock.
In May 2024, the SSP Group further strengthened its position in Australia by acquiring airport F&B operator Airport Retail Enterprise (ARE). This deal added 62 cafés, restaurants, and bars to its portfolio. Currently, the travel concession operator runs over 100 units across 11 Australian airports and Sydney’s Central Railway Station.
