JDE Peet’s, a leading pure – play coffee and tea company, has been awarded the Fair Pay Leader certification by the Fair Pay Innovation Lab. This certification acknowledges the company’s achievement of having no significant overall gender pay differences across its international workforce.
In 2024, as part of the process to obtain this “gold – standard” certification, a global gender pay equity study was conducted. The study analyzed the compensation structures and anonymized remuneration data of around 19,000 JDE Peet’s employees. After accounting for variables like job role, internal job band, and work location differences, it was discovered that the pay gap between men and women is a mere 0.52 per cent. This is well below the 5 – per – cent threshold set by the future EU directive.
Rafael Oliveira, the CEO of JDE Peet’s, stated, “At JDE Peet’s, our aim is to foster a workplace that welcomes a diverse range of ideas, perspectives, cultures, and backgrounds. Our workforce mirrors the consumers we serve, and we believe that diversity drives better business decisions. While the Fair Pay Leader certification is a great honor, it doesn’t mark the end of our efforts. We will keep evaluating and addressing equity gaps to ensure that talent in our workplace is fairly recognized and rewarded.”
JDE Peet’s initiated its first pay equity study in 2022 and has been consistently committed to monitoring its gender pay equity stance. The company emphasizes that it not only focuses on identifying potential disparities but also on ensuring that its policies and practices promote equal opportunities.
In December 2024, JDE Peet’s was also honored with the 2025 Catalyst Award. This award is given to organizations that demonstrate excellence in promoting workplace inclusion and gender equity.
