Amanda Harth, the Chicago native behind Monday Coffee Co., embodies the South Side’s entrepreneurial spirit, always ready to give something new a shot.
Alongside her business partner, Felton Kizer, Harth has opened Monday Coffee’s first café in Starling, a new community space on 16th Street. The café offers a place where people can come together to enjoy coffee and connect.
“The space is welcoming to everyone, even if you’re not buying coffee. It’s a great spot to relax or read a book,” Harth explained. “Coffee has always been a way for people to bond — whether it’s to start a business, meet a friend, or even go on a first date. It’s a safe, social activity.”
Harth and Kizer originally launched their coffee business as a pandemic project, starting with humble beginnings.
“Felton and I began making cold brew in his mom’s kitchen,” Harth recalled. “We went online on October 26, 2020, and sold out in the first week. We had a pop-up in Chicago that Friday, and sold out there too. For some reason, this just took off.”
